Why do we entrust the education of our children to the government?
God’s word states in Ephesians 6:4, “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but, bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Proverbs 22:6 goes on to instruct that we should, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
In Deuteronomy 11:19, scripture further instructs, “And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
These and many other passages of the Bible make it clear and undeniable that parents are required to make provision and take appropriate steps and precautions to insure that their children are raised in a manner that conforms expressly and explicitly with the word of God. 3 John 1:4 says “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.”
Quite obviously, these very serious mandates regarding the upbringing of our children can only be accomplished via a determined and diligent protocol that is outworked and adhered to by those so charged. God’s word clearly establishes that this is anything but a matter that should be left to chance. In fact, it can be reasonably argued that nothing supersedes the importance and urgency of the cultivation and establishment of circumstances conducive to the successful accomplishment of this profound parental duty!
Thus...it must once again be asked...why on earth would we dare entrust the education of our children to the government? After all...in our present hour of history...the state has proven itself, beyond any reasonable doubt, to be the unequivocal enemy of Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible. It is, therefore, utterly impossible to build a logical or rational case for turning children over to a public (i.e. governmental) school system for ostensible purposes of providing an education.
Indeed, the modern academic institutions have proven themselves to be an environment within which children are steeped in and inculcated with beliefs, attitudes, and philosophies that are at stark variance with the traditional mores and values upon which western Christian civilization was originally predicated. Therefore, it must be recognized and acknowledged by those exhibiting intellectual honesty, that enrolling children in the governmental school system unavoidably causes parents and guardians to be found in opposition to the law and word of the God of scripture.
Public Schooling...Not What It Once Was
Long ago in the past history of America, academic institutions that were chartered under the authority and jurisdiction of the state set forth and reflected standards that were largely consistent with the precepts and statutes of the Bible. In fact, Ivy League colleges such as Harvard, Yale, and Princeton were established upon indisputable Christian roots and foundations.
For example, the stated purpose for Harvard was to train and develop ministers competent in gospel understanding so that a “succession of learned and able ministry might be educated.” At Yale College the original rules required that “every student shall consider the main end of his duty to know God and Jesus Christ.” The venerable Princeton University was brought into existence for the primary purpose of advancing “the kingdom and the interests of the blessed Jesus.”
Of course...it followed suit that elementary, middle and high schools were all similarly founded upon Biblical truth and the inarguable consensus relative to the necessity of basing all educational undertaking upon the truth and authority of scripture. Somewhere along the way, however, this Biblical template for structured academic pursuits was cast aside and gradually supplanted by humanistic and atheistic standards.
Needless to say...such a detrimental outcome could have been effectively avoided if fathers, families and churches had maintained and executed proper devotion and obedience to clear and unambiguous scriptural commands. Unfortunately, our predecessors chose to deviate from God’s concise imperatives and, in pursuit of the path of least resistance, allowed subversive and alien forces to seize control of this vastly important area of responsibility.
Throwing Children to the Wolves
It is difficult to overstate the severity of the damage that has been wrought against our civilization by the modern government school system. Gradually and systematically, public schools have been transformed into havens and laboratories for agnosticism and corrupting social engineering schemes.
Through this deliberate and methodical process, countless children have become subverted, corrupted and indoctrinated into belief systems that their generational predecessors would have considered to be anathema and abhorrent.
Simply stated...there is no excuse or justification for the allowance or toleration of such a downward progression of conditions and circumstances. At certain seminal junctures in our relatively recent history, there should have been massive uprisings of resistance against the institutions of public education. The formal expulsion of God from the school system...the mandate for involuntary racial integration of American classrooms...and the determination that the posting of the Ten Commandments was somehow unlawful and unconstitutional...should have served as an irreversible catalyst for an uprising and exodus of incalculable proportions against an evil system that had clearly run amuck.
Instead...these ghastly developments elicited scarcely a wimper of protest and irreversibly laid the groundwork for the grim morass that has now become the status quo. In this regard...parents today should grant somber consideration to the words spoken by Jesus in Matthew 18:6 wherein he stated, “But whoso shall offend one these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea.”
Yes...it is unconscionable and inexcusable that children should be placed into these compromised and corrupted environments under the pretense that such a process is necessitated and justified in the name of receiving an “education.” The unanimous verdict has been rendered via undeniable, tragic results. The governmental education system has a proven and well-established track record of producing graduates and alumni that are abject deniers of Biblical standards and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
A Fundamental Prerequisite for Communism
In Karl Marx’s odious Communist Manifesto...his tenth plank sets forth the necessity of “free education for all children in public schools.” Experience has long taught us that power corrupts and there is no greater earthly repository of unbridled power than in the institution of government. For this reason, it is virtually inevitable that the state will ultimately exploit the power that is derived through the outworking of the institution of government education. In light of this consistently reinforced reality...we must return to a restoration of Biblical parameters and authority in the manner in which our precious children are nurtured and educated. To do any less will certainly hasten the well-deserved judgment against us as the church, the community, and the nation as a whole.
