Moorhouse vs. Tyler: Profiles in Greed, Ignorance, Pride, Misplaced Priorities and Hate-Driven Irrationality – Part 2

In the first installment of what is likely to evolve into an extensive overview of a profoundly significant, real life human drama...I made generalized reference to and observations regarding the intense conflict that I am engaged in against an extraordinarily cunning and malicious adversary known as Bird Moorhouse.

This individual is clearly unregenerate in terms of his spiritual state of being, and as such, he experiences no conviction from an indwelling holy spirit. His mentality is categorically embodied in an “end justifies the means” perspective, thus...nothing is fundamentally off limits in the formulation and outworking of his tactical strategies.

As I previously alluded to, he unhesitatingly threatened to kill me after smashing his cane over my head on June 12, 2018. Sadly...I must acknowledge the fact that his murderous threat was anything but bluster and idle talk. Indeed...there is no question in my mind that if he were utterly certain of his ability to avoid repercussions or consequences, Bird would have no qualms over either killing me himself or paying someone else to perpetrate such a homicidal act. many ways Bird Moorhouse is an anachronism...and a throwback to the older days in Polk County that were marked by unsolved murders and a good ol’ boy protection network of inordinate power and influence. In light of these particular facts and aspects of this unfolding story, that which transpires in the days ahead promises to be fraught with far reaching implications of the following nature.

For instance...will it be possible for a man devoid of conscience and materially capable of carrying out a sustained campaign of vitriolic defamation and unrestrained character succeed in overcoming truth, facts, and evidence which when properly applied and marshalled will easily eviscerate the onslaught of lies and disinformation being incrementally unleashed by Mr. Moorhouse via social media?

Furthermore, will the fact that Bird Moorhouse has already been so reckless and arbitrary in his slanderous, libelous and defamatory conduct as to provide overwhelming provision for an open and shut court action in response to his flagrant violation of civil law, in turn, result in a successful lawsuit ultimately divesting him of a significant percentage of his personal wealth and fortune?

Men of his ilk are often delusional in their own self-assessment and syndrome of self-importance. Such over-confidence and unbridled ego often results in behavior and conduct so bereft of reason and restraint as to serve to facilitate their own demise and defeat. Of course...only time and circumstances will bring forth the answers to these questions.

In the meantime...while firmly relying on the provision and protection of the God of Israel, I will simultaneously seek to do all that is within my power and capability to deal justice and proper recompense to a man who has foolishly chosen to squander this late chapter of his waning earthly sojourn, on mounting a venomous assault upon an individual who consciously chooses to devote his entire existence to taking an unwavering stand against the menacing and life threatening forces of tyranny, apathy, mediocrity, cowardice, materialism, humanism, and a satanic, globalist new world order.

In this vein and context, I boldly assert and claim the promise set forth in Isaiah 54:17 wherein we read, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.”

Understanding The Moorhouse Method

Several years ago I was talking to an individual who had spent considerable time in Ocoee...drawn in and sustained by the river subculture and its varied business opportunities. In discussing with him the excessive improvements and monetary investments I had made in the building of the Whitewater Grill restaurant complex...this individual proceeded to cynically and matter-of-factly explain to me the phenomenon he referred to as the “Moorhouse Method.” The process went as follows.

The Moorhouses (either Elmer or Bird) would acquire a piece of land on Highway 64 and lease it out to some cock-eyed optimist, fledgling entrepreneur who would struggle to erect some kind of roof structure under which he might ply his trade or peddle his wares. Typically, the hapless visionary would fail to make ends meet and would wind up surrendering the property at which time the Moorhouses would raise the rent and execute a lease with the next individual to happen along with some money and an idea. This next party might progress as far as building a floor and walling in the roofed structure built by his predecessor tenant, prior to his own realization of inability to stay the course. At this juncture, needless to say, the Moorhouses would once again raise the rent and strike yet another rental arrangement with the next would-be commercial proprietor. And so the process went over the passage of time as the Moorhouses proceeded to build their real estate empire on the blood, sweat, tears and shattered dreams of a sequence of individuals who poured their life, energy, and resources into what proved to be a failed endeavor.

It is important at this juncture, to emphasize that blame for the failings of others is not being directly laid at the feet of the Moorhouses. Instead, the point is being emphasized that their modus operandi for their own enrichment and success has featured as its centerpiece a glaring indifference to responsibilities that are typically considered to be basic components of what should be done by good and proper landlords in their business relationships. Historically, our American system of free enterprise has been based upon the golden rule and the premise of the desirability of seeking to facilitate win-win results between those conducting business such as in landlord/tenant relationships.

Rental property owners who value their tenants and treat them as they would hope to be treated, understand that this involves the reinvestment of a meaningful percentage of incoming revenues. Such an approach would typically result in long-term, mutually rewarding circumstances that would reflect Christian character and thoughtful decency on the part of both landlord and tenant. In the Moorhouse model the equation is unilaterally one-sided. In fact, while not overtly engaging in injurious acts against their tenants, they nevertheless rely on the aforementioned failure and inability to stay the course as a pivotal aspect of how their own financial profile becomes augmented. In this regard, they are truly the personification of the stereo-typical slumlord of literature and pop culture.

Like the politician who becomes wealthy in his term of office while never technically breaking the law, the Moorhouse method is at its core unethical and abusive. This reality is of particular relevance in light of the fact that Bird Moorhouse currently seeks to portray himself as a paragon of uprightness and good character, while simultaneously working relentlessly to besmirch my own standing and reputation via his serial slandering techniques.

Two Exceptions To the Rule In Terms Of Failure And Success...Or the Tale Of Two Restaurants

In the mid-2000’s I made the decision to take steps toward leaving Pensacola, Florida and making my return to the mountains of southeast Tennessee. During the better part of the 90’s I had lived in and operated out of the McCaysville, Georgia/Copperhill, Tennessee area and after the barrage of hurricanes that pummeled the Gulf Coast in 2004-2005 I realized that God was prompting me to journey back to that area which I had grown and remained so fond of.

Along with a young man with whom I had become closely associated, I travelled up through Alabama and into the Volunteer State, with every intention of heading back to that southeastern-most corner of Polk County which I had previously called home. Along the way, however, shortly after crossing Highway 411 on Highway associate announced that he had seen a “For Rent” sign on the side of the road. On a whim I turned around and called the phone number on the sign, which happened to be at the go-cart track property at 1174 Highway 64 in Ocoee.

The following morning we met Elmer Moorhouse and talked with him at length about a variety of subjects. We hit if off instantly and experienced a chemistry which provided the basis for a strong relationship for many years to come. As it turns out, Bird Moorhouse (while sharing some characteristics in common with his father) is only a fraction of the man that his Dad was. Yes...Elmer was tight and miserly in many ways...but he was honest and had a significant measure of integrity. He exhibited little if any of the guile and deceitfulness that is so prominent in Bird’s psychological profile.

On that day of my initial encounter with Elmer at the go-cart track property...we were approached by parties inquiring about the prospective rental of the facility. Already sizing up that I was ready to commit, Elmer told them the place was already rented, even though we hadn’t made a formal agreement. Eventually I stated my desire to rent the property and asked what I needed to do to pursue that objective. It was a Saturday morning and I told Elmer my plan was to return on the following Wednesday with a truck load of possessions. He told me that no up front money was necessary and that he would have a lease ready on Wednesday. We shook hands and were on our way.

My young friend expressed concern that I hadn’t insisted on locking in the deal with some earnest money. I explained to him that Elmer was the kind of man whose handshake meant something and that there was no cause for concern. Like my own Dad (born in 1926) Elmer was of that WWII who by today’s standards, were unique and exceptional. Not surprisingly, when I returned the following week...Elmer made good on his word and thus began a long, mutually beneficial landlord/tenant relationship. Unlike Bird, Elmer would never urinate on you and tell you it was raining. Yes...Elmer expected to be paid his rent money and he didn’t spend anything on upkeep or maintenance of the facilities...but he was honest and operated under a basic code of ethics and decency.

Interestingly, about the same time I rented the 1174 Highway 64 property, John Gorman rented the facility that became the Ocoee Dam Deli. He was a former Cracker Barrel manager and proceeded to establish quite an impressive eatery, whose business model sought to capitalize on economic opportunity generated by the whitewater rafting industry. A few years into the Ocoee Dam Deli’s existence my young associate struck up a close friendship with John Gorman, who soon became a committed, core member of our small church fellowship.

During that period I was dividing my time between Ocoee and Pensacola. While in Tennessee I would spend lengthy sessions introducing and bringing John up to speed in a variety of subject areas reflective of hard-core truth. He was a quick study and was completely on board concerning the politically incorrect truths that the modern, lukewarm church has irresponsibly turned its back on.

We were even involved in a joint search for land that might form the basis and foundation of a community of like-minded Christian believers. At John’s instigation, Jessica and I jumped in head first at the Deli in the summer of 2009. Our ostensible mutual goal was to see the Deli evolve into an enterprise that could provide an economic engine to drive and underwrite the work of the kingdom of Jesus Christ in the midst of a corrupt, perverse, lost and dying generation.

Somewhere along the way during that fateful summer, however, John Gorman drifted in his commitment and elected to veer off course and away from his previous conviction. virtually the precise moment he was making this unfortunate choice...Cherokee Corners (located directly across the street from the Deli) happened to come available, and I wasted no time in approaching Elmer with a proposition to rent the location and open a restaurant.

Elmer agreed to let me become the new tenant and made the following statement at the time we entered into this new agreement. He said, “Rick...I don’t know how you can do it, but I can’t think of anyone I would rather have Cherokee Corners.” Thus, on September 15, 2009 I leased Cherokee Corners and began the process of transforming it from a convenience store to a undertaking that wound up consuming 20 months, and almost failed to come to ultimate fruition.

Regrettably...John Gorman and his wife became spiteful and vindictive when the Whitewater Grill opened for business. In fact, they and their loyalists worked overtime to smear and malign us...often astonishing us as we would hear countless first-hand testimonies by a steady stream of customers who would inform us of the fantastic negative reports they would receive across the road at the Deli.

Nevertheless, in relatively short order we gained considerable traction and began to become the restaurant of choice for a considerable portion of the river community. Our stature and popularity grew steadily over the ensuing rafting the point that we were catering for six rafting companies in addition to our burgeoning daily business.

All of this came to an abrupt halt in June of 2016 when I made an audacious political statement advocating the restoration of America’s demographic composition of the mid-1960’s wherein a European, Caucasian super-majority was actually codified into long-established immigration law.

Needless to say, the Deli benefitted enormously from the adversity and malevolence that resulted from my stand for truth. Along with a mindless chorus of naysayers and ignorant malcontents, they reveled in our hardship and difficulties. Despite these circumstances, we continued to soldier on...providing the same quality product and service to those faithful customers who remained committed in their patronage.

Ultimately, in the unfolding of God’s sovereign the aftermath of my controversial political stance...the hearts of Joy and Bird Moorhouse grew dark, depraved and hateful. After an exceedingly difficult year in 2017 I was very much back on track in 2018 paying large sums of rental monies during the first half of the year. The blow-up encounter, assault and death threat of June 12th set in motion the events that led to the closing of the years into its existence...which happens to be God’s number of completion. By his grace, our new location will soon be established in the eighth year...eight being the number representative of new beginnings.

Of keen interest as well was the horrific death of John Gorman in late 2018. Years earlier I had been John’s mentor and pastor. He not only forsook his calling to stand and walk in hard-core truth...but he proceeded as well to engage in conscious opposition to the work God was raising up directly across the road. John turned his back on the precious gift of truth and instead chose the path of least resistance and the favor and accolades of evil men.

In late 2009 I wrote a lengthy, 13 page letter of reproof, rebuke and remonstration to John...which he proceeded to ridicule and demean. In the final analysis, however, its warnings and challenges can only be viewed as prescient and chilling. Not surprisingly...God did not allow John to witness the closing of the Whitewater Grill...nor will he ever have the opportunity to make straight the crooked path and return to the birthright that, like Esau, he sold for that which proved to be of little value.

The Ocoee Dam Deli and the Whitewater Grill both proved to be highly successful and profitable enterprises. John spent considerable funds improving his location, but nothing compared to what was done to expand the facilities across the road. Bird Moorhouse is such a crass and audacious purveyor of deceit as he seeks to render an utterly false perspective in the aftermath of our departure.

Ironically...he bandies about pictures of the one part of Cherokee Corners that I didn’t completely overhaul...the area that was utilized to establish a full restaurant kitchen. The area in question was deteriorating and grossly substandard from a structural standpoint when I first leased the location. It was reminiscent of the old saying that if the termites quit holding hands it would fall apart.

Our professional restaurant equipment fortunately covered a multitude of sins...sins of an inappropriately thrifty landlord...not the visionary tenant who would proceed (at his own expense) to vastly improve and expand the business location that became the Whitewater Grill. We always did well on health inspections...but nevertheless lost some points over the dilapidated conditions the landlord refused to address.

Yes...upon our departure we removed our own equipment...all of which we purchased. The convenience store fixtures and obsolete kitchen items had all been turned over to Elmer in the early days of the restaurant and were stored in his barn at the Hildebrand Road farmhouse and in the semi-trailer behind his own home. A few items that could be used (a two-foot electric grill, fryer, and slicer) all bit the dust before the end of the second season.

The central AC system seemingly came over on the Mayflower and was ridiculously substandard. Its inefficiency and obsolescence cost me an extra $50,000 in excessive VEC bills over the ensuing years. My electric bill never was less than $1000 for the month and surpassed $3000 at its peak. The temperature control system for the walk-in cooler completely gave up the ghost prior to the end of our first season.

Of course, Bird only inherited the facility upon his father’s passing in late 2015 and obviously has no interest in truth and facts. His utterly transparent motive is to demonize me, irrespective of what the truth happens to be. Imagine the gall and nerve of one such as him. Along with his two brothers, he divvies up his Dad’s millions...part of which is the property featuring a structure that has been tripled in size!

All the while...driven by his greed and hatred...he thoroughly misrepresents reality and seeks to whip up hostility among a band of prejudiced, ignorant, double-minded onlookers who similarly manifest complete indifference to truth and factuality. Yes...he is the king of projection who in the proper timing of God’s sovereign will, and through the mechanism of appropriate litigation will be proven to be guilty of everything he has falsely accused me of...and much more!

In the next installment of this series I will include court documents which illustrate how from the outset of this current debacle, Bird Moorhouse has done nothing but lie, fabricate and distort. So extreme has his performance been in this regard, it would seem that he probably missed his calling in life. His dishonesty and prevarication are such that he could have easily been a corrupt politician or establishment journalist!
